Fellow conservatives, be honest: When the woke left prays for “justice” that looks like our destruction—open borders, gender chaos, defunding cops—do you secretly think God hits “ignore”? Or worse, that He’s too busy blessing real patriots like us to bother with their deluded cries? I’ve wrestled with that ugly thought myself.
“And God said to him, ‘Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right…’” 1 Kings 3:11 (ESV)
Checking Our Pride
Jesus doesn’t mince words: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44). That includes progressives whose agendas we fight tooth and nail. But flip the mirror—am I arrogant enough to believe my sins don’t stink as bad as theirs? We’re all sinners under the same judgment (Romans 3:23). Pride edges in fast and poisons grace.
Solomon’s Model of Dying to Self
Solomon had every excuse to pray for enemy heads on pikes—kings did it daily back then. Instead, he begged for wisdom to discern right from wrong, crucifying selfish wants like Jesus on the cross. That “oil for his lamp”? Pure divine insight over personal payback.
Mary shows the same heart in her own way. When the angel hit her with the news—she’d carry God’s Son, face whispers, shame, the unknown—she didn’t push back or protect her plans. She just said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word” (Luke 1:38). No grip on her own cup of fear or self-will. She let it go and drank God’s instead. Like Jesus in Gethsemane sweating blood but saying “not my will,” she surrendered the natural pull—and God lifted her into glory. Both hit me hard: bring the honest human wants and fears to God, then crucify them so His cup can overflow in our lives (Psalm 23:5).

Prayer, Voting, and Family Mercy
My pastor buddy won’t vote at all—what seems right in his eyes might be dead wrong in God’s, so he fears the Lord over the ballot box. It hit me hard. Still, I vote with discernment when wisdom calls for it (Proverbs 11:14). But wishing harm? Never wise. The solid conservatives I follow demand rule of law, not blood.
My progressive-socialist family member? Praying curses on her? Not a chance. I fear missing the mark of the prize for her—and us—a “wisdom” that bypasses the cross.
Pushing Back on “Compromise” Fears
To the firebrands yelling “weak sauce” or “sellout”: I get the alarm—watering down truth risks relativism and sin’s subtlety (Solomon’s tragic later years prove it). But real discernment wages war God’s way: fervent prayer, bold truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), holy living—not venom.
God’s moves in history back this up. Azusa Street 1906: In racist, segregated America, the Holy Spirit exploded through Black preacher William Seymour, erasing color lines in unified worship. God shattered barriers before culture did.

Final Thought
Conservatives, time to kill the pride. God hears every sinner’s prayer—His grace doesn’t play favorites. Pray for discernment, not doom.
2 Timothy 4:2 KJV
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Chase that Solomon oil for our lamps!
Matthew 25:3 KJV
They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
Who’s willing to die to self and watch God move?
